Expression of Interest

Early Years and Montessori Drama classes are delivered on a weekly basis linking our themes and activities to Aistear which is the curriculum framework for children from birth to 6 years in Ireland, set down by the Department of Education. The framework uses the following themes to describe children’s learning and development.

  • Well-being
  • Identity and Belonging
  • Communicating
  • Exploring and Thinking

My classes will clearly show how Speech & Drama complements the early years curriculum. There are very strong links between the activities of Speech Drama & Communications and the Principles and themes of early learning & development.

My classes will include the following activities, my theme is presented using an aim and learning goal taken from (Well Being, Communications, Identity and Belonging and Exploring and Thinking).

  • Mime
  • Puppetry
  • Short Plays
  • Drama Games
  • Choral Verse Speaking

Speech & Drama in an Early Years Setting teaches and encourages expressive language, conflict resolution, supports literacy, relieves emotional tension, and helps to build self-esteem and confidence.
